Needles Viberg Hakata Exhibition

We recently travelled to the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka to exhibit our collaboration with Needles at the Nepenthes Hakata store. After working with the iconic Japanese brand on a small collection of Hikers and Pull-On boots late last year we turned our attention to a more ambitious project. Needles Rebuild is a subsection of their line that focuses on reinterpreting classic vintage pieces within a contemporary Japanese context that has become synonymous with the Nepenthes family of brands. For our Rebuild project we spent several years collecting our own vintage work boots that were beyond repair. We deconstructed the used uppers and cut them into new patterns and then finished the boots with new components. The finished product is both an exercise in design and sustainability which speaks to the longevity of high quality products. The collection is available on a made to order basis exclusively throughNepenthes Japan.
